Pros of Coloring Pencils
If you’re using high quality color markers or color pencils (you want to make sure they are lightfast so they do not fade over time), there are many benefits of this underappreciated medium.
• Portability – Previously mentioned, this cannot be overlooked. Even if color pencils are not your favorite medium, they can be transported from location to location with little effort. Once you’ve captured the basics of your picturesque image, you can bring it home and use the image with other mediums.
• Immediacy – Unlike other mediums, colored markers have a remarkably fast dry time, and coloring pencils have no dry time at all. This gives you the benefit of knowing exactly how it’s going to turn out, because you can see how it turns out simply by placing the pencil point on the paper.
• Versatility – Although this is the medium of choice used with beginning artists, color pencils are wildly versatile.
