"The Trumpet Video" follows the instrument from the Renaissance period to present day, examining its early construction and evolution to today's instrument. It looks at its shift in function from an early communication tool in the battlefield with specific signals and meanings to the artistic and essential role it now plays in musical composition. It reveals that the trumpet's craftsmanship of earlier periods has many characteristics that still can be found in today's instrument, yet also discusses the changes that have been made, including the introduction of valves, that have had a tremendous impact on the music world. This film also touches on past and present masters, dating from the 16th century's Cesare Bendinelli and his composition, to Verde's use of trumpet in Aida in the 19th century, to Dizzy Gillespie's iconic jazz of the 20th century.
