The Language of Photography Video (DVD)

The language of photography has changed as the technology of it has developed and the public perceptions about it have changed. The story of photography and its changing language is told through this series that is presented in eight parts. Each part is 27 minutes in length, and each covers part of the mechanics of photography as well as the history that has led the world to photography in its current form. Some of the best photographers in the world, experts in photography and museum employees discuss photography and the ways that it has led to today's language that is used to describe it. The concerns of modern photographers are also covered, including the manipulation of digital images and the ways in which photos have become a commodity in the modern marketplace. With photos increasingly being decontextualized, the role of photographers is changing rapidly.
