The Lady and the Unicorn: Making Sense of the Senses-in French Video (DVD)
Product Description:
This is a series of six wall hanging tapestries restored in 1883. This series originated around 1500's in Paris. Painters were commissioned to produce small paintings. The paintings went to Flanders where the weavers used silk and wool. It is call the "Sense of the Senses" as the first five tapestries deal with each of the senses; taste, smell, hearing, touch and sight. The sixth tapestry delves into the topic of a Lady's truest deepest desires or love. It is just one of the many mysteries of the tapestries this video examines. Considered by some experts as the greatest art coming out of this period, the tapestries were designed in a style known as "thousand flowers". This video delves into each tapestry's symbolism and history.
