This Tape Bound and Acid-Free Layout Bond paper is ideal for rough sketches and drawings, as well as finishing comps. We use this for Pencil, Pen & ink, Fine markers, Charcoal and Pastels.

When you are making preparatory sketches for a composition or when you are just starting out in art, you do not want to work on expensive papers. This 9-inch by 11-inch Strathmore Layout Bond paper pad gives you  50 sheets of 16 pound, acid-free paper on which you can express yourself. This paper is perfect for almost any drawing medium. Pencil and pen and ink are the primary media that are appropriate for this paper. However, markers can also be used without excessive bleeding. Even charcoal and pastel will make nice, clean strokes on this paper. Strathmore Layout Bond is a lightweight paper and slightly translucent. It is durable and strong, and it is able to stand up to vigorous erasing without ripping. The pad is tape bound at the top so that you can easily fold the cover out of your way when drawing, and the backing of this pad is sturdy cardboard so that you can draw wherever you are. While many artists use this paper for preliminary work, it is also good for completed compositions.
