The SMI Pedestal Desk is functional and beautiful. It works well alone or in combination with matching SMI Flat File cabinets. Adding a 24 by 36 inch or the larger 30 by 42 inch Flat File to the desk creates a dynamic workspace that is useful as a regular desk or as a drafting station.
The solid one-piece tabletop and the split-top version both have a ten-slotted ratcheting mechanism that allows the tabletop to stay in a tilt position at the perfect desired angle for drawing.
The drawer space for the desk height model consists of one letter-sized filing drawer and two smaller drawers to hold supplies and tools. The drafting table height models have the option of either two letter-sized filing drawers with one smaller drawer for supplies and tools, or space for a computer with two smaller drawers for supplies and tools.
The base and drawer faces are made of durable solid oak finished with many coats of industrial grade clear lacquer that allows the beauty of the wood grain to show. The casework and drawer walls are oak veneer with tempered hardboard used for the bottoms of the drawers. Everything is made from top quality materials with an attention to workmanship so that these attractive pedestal desks will provide many years of service.
