The Martin Yale S16.50 is capable of shredding a lot of material quickly (50ft./min. to be precise). However, the bottleneck may not be the shredder, but in emptying the bin of all the material. When the shredder bin is full of material, the entire unit will shut off and a light will start to flash. At this point, the bin must be removed and re-bagged. While this re-bagging process is going on, nothing is being shredded. Many people speed this process up by buying a few extra boxes.
For example, having two boxes, both lined with plastic, would allow a person to quickly change out and start back up the shredder. While the material is shredding into the new box, the full old box could have the plastic bag removed and a new plastic bag inserted.
