Scratch Boards

Want to create realistic images with a fresh new medium? Try creating your piece on a scratch board! Perfect for fine artists working in a variety of media, scratch board is made with three layers; a durable paper base, a layer of white China clay and a top coat of black India ink. Create vivid, attention getting illustrations and images by scratching through the ink to reveal the white layer beneath. A full range of values can be created by varying the number and size of the scratches and hash marks used. 

While scratch board is a striking black and white media, adding color to the scratched surface allows for a striking level of realism. Colored pencils, inks and markers can be used to add color and accent the finished piece. The finished artwork is suitable for framing as is or ready to reproduce for commercial applications. Artist scratch board measures 4" x 6" and comes in a pack of 12 boards.
