Places Video (DVD) is a showcase of various artists paintings and sculptures and their use in interpretation of various scenarios. The video consists of three segments. In segment one, Mondrian’s paintings, actually four in number are used to track his migration from the images depicted in the paintings drawn from his imagined and abstract landscapes to the pure geometry of Neo-Plasticism. In the second segment, various artist's sculptures namely Fish, The End of the Twentieth Century, and Pelagos by Brancusi, Joseph Beuy and Dame Barbara Hepworth respectively are used to analyze how abstract sculptures represent nature.
The third segment showcases Richard Long’s paintings namely Line Made by Walking, Waterfall Wall, and Red Slate Circle installation paintings. The Waterfall painting was created by finger painting with a white clay slurry on a large black wall. In the third segment, the documentary video narrates Richard Long’s fascination with organizing nature using his paintings.
