Winsor and Newton stands as one of the major brands in the world for high quality watercolor paint. W&N Permanent Rose (Quin) holds up this high standard, as arguably the most strongly tinted, most highly saturated and warmest among the Permanent Rose paints available. In addition, the W&N watercolor was highly colorfast when some other manufacturers' paints of the same name did not meet the same standard. This is one of the most highly used and versatile pigments on the palette, and is often used as the standard magenta color. It mixes beautifully with the red and yellow colors on the spectrum. It works particularly well for florals and, mixed with burnt sienna and cobalt blue to create beautiful flesh tones. In general, quinacridones become slightly more saturated when used as a tint. As a quinacridone color, Permanent Rose is transparent and staining.
