This video examines the creations of two such talents, Talvin Singh and Jocelyn Pook, both of whom blend the sounds of their own culture with other influences to end up with something unique.
Singh is a celebrated British artist who has his roots in Indian music. A trained tabla player, Singh adapts these traditional influences to modern styles, such as acid house, to build synthesized loops that stay true to their original flavor. Pook explores even stranger avenues, taking the sounds of soccer songs and supporter chants and aligning them with the more refined style of orchestral instrumentation.
