Ludwig von Beethoven's career is divided into three periods: his Early Period, the Middle Period and his Late Period. This video tackles the latter and includes selections from Piano Sonata Opus 111, Symphony No. 9 (often referred to as the Chorale - Beethoven's last complete symphony), the String Quartet, Opus 130 and others. Many consider Mozart's Late Period to be some of his best work and is the result of his calculate "trimming down" or simplification of his music and the splendid technique with which he emphasized melodies or specific parts that belied the simplicity and showcased the skill that has enabled Beethoven's music to live through the ages. His Late Works is a testament to Beethoven's mastery of the craft, even at a time when he was losing his hearing - making his accomplishments seem even that much more incredible.
