Jullian CLASSIC French Easel Made from oiled polished Elmwood, it has all the basic features of the successful Plein Air Full Size easel (metal lined drawer with adjustable dividers [only this Classic model has adjustable dividers], brass plated fittings, linen shoulder strap, moulded on feet, varnished wooden palette etc…).
Ideal for Studio or outdoor use, it is recommended for artists who need the Julian quality at an economy price.

This, as all french easels, can be used for watercolor when set in the horizontal position.
For oil and acrylic tilt-back it has a nice standard tilt-back range.

Very nice easel, but difficult to lock in position with supplied hardware. Needed to buy larger washers in order to secure positions. Also, amount of strength needed was difficult to secure position was excessive for older person. Have resolved by buying standard nuts with appropriate wrench. Otherwise great!

Good product, but.... Please don't use UPS for delivery.

UPS charged me $45 just for called "custom fee" (those are not charged by Government), as I already paid shipping fee (to Madison).

Excellent product, but..please don't use UPS (for Canada customer)..

Excellent!!! Very nice French Easel and very easy to assemble. It's up and running in about 2 minutes. I would suggest that if shipping to Canada could be made easier it would to not use UPS. Your USPS is quite capable of handling this type of shipment. UPS is not required as there is no duty on these products and no clearing. UPS is simply a border bandit. Other than that...I would do business with you again.

Really nice easel! Had one of these that was a bday gift a few years back that was stolen/ left behind and never recovered. Really unfortunate. A lot of expensive paint inside also. Was able to replace it all for WAY less than I imagined. Received everything within two days just in time for an excursion. Madison really rocks. Customer service is excellent. Oh, one more thing, the price of this great easel would have you think it was produced somewhere known for producing cheap consumer goods. On the contrary, it really is made in France!

Excellent product for the price. This easel is sturdy, lightweight and portable. A little bit of trial and error to initially figure out how to unfold and set it up. But the picture on the box helped. Very fast delivery.

Excellent product for a great price. Madison Art Shop has Outstanding Customer Service! Let me explain, I had a problem with the shipping of the umbrella (it was bent) but I was sent a replacement within days, and was just asked to save the bent one to show the shipping company. I'm sold on Madison Art Shop!!

I bought this easel for my wife, who is taking lessons from an accomplished artist. Her teacher saw her working with her paper flat on the table and recommended she buy an easel. She described what kind, and I had some trouble finding it until I found the Madison web site. Excellent, fact-filled, and easy to navigate. Her teacher is quite pleased with it and so is she. I can completely recommend this special version of the Jullian easel.

Just received the easels. Bought one for me and one for my husband. They look great and seem very well-built. Ordering and shipping was fast and easy. Only minor complaint is that there were no instructions on how to open assemble it. It took me awhile to figure it out - the side legs have to be pulled outward. There is a clip that they lock into.

Excellent product but did not come with assembly instructions.
Item was purchased as a gift and I got a call from the recipient about the lack of instructions and a $55.00 COD fee payable on delivery to Canada. A bit disappointing and thankfully she had the money to pay, so keep the hidden fee in mind when ordering from Canada.

I have not used the easel yet as the weather has not permitted. after opening my package, it took me over 20 min. to figure out how it operated. I expected to find a flyer, explaining how to unfold it but there were no instructions. You need to put instructions with your portable easels for new artisit dummies like me. It would have been helpful. It is the first portable easel I have ever had.

Impressive! I purchased this as a gift for my wife; she loves it. The fit, finish, a and wood are excellent. Our first temptation was to use it as a display, but it is meant to work. As a cabinet maker, I am very pleased wiith the wuality.
