This DVD video analyzes the bass instruments present in an orchestra in twenty-eight minutes. The double bass is the most prominent instrument of the video and the origins of this instrument are outlined and how the double bass musician and conductor Serge Kussevitzky used the instrument as an accompaniment often. The other bass instruments: the tuba, bass cornet, serpent, ophicleide, bass saxophone, and the bass horn are also covered briefly in the program. All the music played in the video is by Joseph Hadyn, an Austrian composer from the Classical music period. This video provides some good bass instrument information and makes for a good watch for musicians who play bass instruments.
