The Neskowin easel will hold two canvases up to 52" vertically, but with the two additional gripper sets included, this easel will easily hold four canvases each 24" vertically. As far as the weight goes, it really depends on the dimensions of the canvas. The grippers are 6” wide, so if the canvas was narrow and heavy, the gripper would hold it just fine. However, if the canvas was oversized, it may be difficult for the small grippers to balance the large canvas.
