The easel is made from the durable Eucalyptus tree, a sturdy, dense wood that does not wear easily. The Eucalyptus wood gives the easel a soft sheen, and ranges in color from pale red to dark brown. Richeson's Deluxe Table Top easel is built to last.
In addition to its solid construction, Richeson's easel is expandable and collapsible, making it a convenient, transportable tool. In fact, the easel is an art class favorite thanks to its table top use. The lightweight 10 lb frame can securely hold a canvas as small as 8" x 10" up to 40" high. Standard height is 27 1/4", and can be adjusted to a maximum height of 48 3/4". It's base width is 18" by 18 1/4". Basic assembly required after shipping.

I have a Best studio easel which I have had for many years and this Best table top easel is built essentially the same as the studio easel. It just doesent have the legs. It is made of the same high quality materials, it is made to the same design. It should last for many many years. I bought the table top easel because we have become "snow birds" now and I needed a smaller easel to take on the road as we travel.

I just received my easel and I love it!!
Being disabled and needing to sit to paint,
It is perfect! Very sturdy and what I love about it is, I can paint a small 8x10 up to a 40" painting!

I use to have a large studio easel that took up the whole room. I was searching for a nice stable table easel that could take a larger painting and finally found what I was looking for in the Richeson Deluxe Table-Top Easel. Nice and sturdy, beautiful warm colored wood. I have also found a new favorite art supplier. Madison does charge shipping but their prices are lower than the other guys (who offer free shipping), to start with. After shipping charges, Madison is still less plus I received my order fast!

This easel is amazing! It is so sturdy that it makes my floor easel look flimsy by comparison. I have shopped around and the price is really great too. Snatch one up, by all means. You will not regret it. After a few minutes of assembly, you will be ready to create your masterpieces :)

I was very pleased with the service of Madison Art, they sent updates as to arrival etc. and the easel is as advertised,the quality is much nicer than I expected. Its a sturdy easel, with enough heft that it easily supports all size canvas.

A well constructed quality easel. However I bought it for small canvases and it is not user friendly for this mode. The bottom canvas block moves up to hold small canvases and this requires you to stand to paint but the top canvas block will not come down to allow holding small canvases and be able to sit and paint. Did not suit my needs well. {Ed. note: The center mast actually does slide down which will lower the top canvas-holder as well. This should easily allow you to lock in smaller canvas at a low height. A terrific little frame. It's sturdy, strong, and straight, and folds up flat for easy storage. Like many wood easels, this one comes with only a light finish of oil. To make clean up easier, I slap on a couple coats of tung oil. Expect this easel will last for generations.

This table top easel is well constructed and nice looking. I have limited space so needed a table top model. I purchased this because of the value/price but was won over by the quality! I have read reviews that this easel was difficult to assemble but if one reads the instructions exactly as written it took me only a few minutes to put together.

Beautiful, sturdy easel. Saves space and adjusts to a wide range of sizes. Stable enough to support clamp-on task lighting. I love it!! Madison had the best price and professional customer service. I'll definitely buy from them again.

The service from Madison Art Shop was excellent and the price was lower than elsewhere. The only reason I'm only giving 4 stars instead of 5 is a minor error from the manufacturer. The hinge was attached to the frame with mast where it should have been attached to the easel base as illustrated. Not a big deal. For the money, and if you need a space saver for an already crowded work space, this is a very good quality easel for anyone working at any level.
