William Kentridge, the very famous artist from Johannesburg, was selected by a respectable panel to responsibly deliver the lectures of Charles Norton, at Harvard University. The many creations of William, are famous for their direct involvement with many social and political issues. He presented his famous lectures, in the form of Six Drawing Lessons. These lessonss were about a wide range of topics and ideas. These included examples from some of the best Kentridge's works. Lesson One was all about Shadows. The fist few lessons are focused towards helping the students to understand, that knowledge is actually quite subjective. Drawing lesson two is about a short history related to Colonial revolts. In this brief lesson, Kentridge moves on to argue that colonialism is all about logical culmination of enlightenment. Vertical three is the topic of lesson three where William deals with the very violent history of South Africa. Lesson four is about life in the studio. Lesson five is quite different and Kentridge explores mistranslation, deformation and other similar concepts related to otherness.
