The small structure of a cell does not dictate the size of this important structure's purpose. Watch the DVD to improve your knowledge of how cells energize the body through respiration and understand the processes of glycolisis and how this all occurs on the electron transport chain. Never again will these small structures be a mystery. Respect how all parts of the body work together starting at the cellular level.
Cells provide energy through two different processes: aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic occurs in the presence of adequate oxygen. Anaerobic metabolism happens without adequate oxygen. The energy sources for the cellullar metabolism for each process is different and ranges from glucose to fats. Oxygen is required for cellular respiration and an energy-producing system known as the Kreb's cycle. Identify the differences between cell anabolism, which is the creation of molecules, and cell catabolism, which is a breakdown of molecules.
Learn about all of these cellular process and more in this 22-minute DVD that is part of the Cell Biology series.
