Conflict happens on a regular basis, and without the right tools and perspective, conflict can have serious repercussions in a school setting. Conflict can lead to bullying, lower self-esteem, and violence. Social media can also magnify the extent of the injury even outside of a school setting. The effects of conflict can last a lifetime. Everyone is responsible for doing what they can to identify and de-escalate conflict before it leads to something more serious. Peer mediation is a valuable skill in student and teacher training to prevent crises before they happen.
