After 50 years of its invention, Photography once again tried to present itself in opposition to painting. At the onset of 20th century, a new group of photographers known as the Pictorialist photographers replicated the subjective nature and eternal themes of the visual arts of the earlier times by working out with different techniques like special lenses, printing effects. Another method that was adopted was painting straightly onto prints. Imparting a deep knowledge of the movement and its effect, this program surveys the working styles and methods adopted by the Pictorialist photographers comprising of talented photographers like Robert Demachy, Alvin Langdon Coburn, Edward Steichen.
