There was a phase in the early 20th century when the popularity of photography stooped quite low. But in 1960 it once again emerged as a frontrunner and regained its original acclaim, thanks to the external impact of the popular tastes. This program demonstrates the utilization of stage photography to break the notion of photographic realism. Also examined are the different approaches through which this art form crushes the perception of the objectivity of camera as evident in Cindy Sherman’s caricatures of B-movie depictions of jeopardized women, and Jeff Wall’s intricate revision interpretation of legendary paintings to create different statements related to contemporary life.
