Commencing at London’s Victoria Station, this program provides a unique merging together of visual splendor and adventure aboard one of the most famous passenger trains popular in the world-the Orient Express. It starts with David Heathcote, boarding the luxurious Orient Express in the famous Victoria Station of London. He then moves ahead towards Venice. He first smoothly settles in his well restored sleeping cabin. Then he starts to explore the charm and the history of this famous train. Viewers encounter James Sherwood, the person responsible for buying two authentic carriages of Orient Express in 1977. He resolved to reinstate a whole line of sleeper, Pulliman and restaurant and restore them to their old Art Deco glory. After probing fully the splendor and magnificence of the dining compartment the program brings to the fore an equally spectacular sleeping cabin giving an insight into the feelings of the super rich riders as the train passed through the spectacular Alps. However, viewers get to know that everything in the train is not that luxurious. The train does not have an air-conditioning system and the washing system is quite basic too. Representing the vigor of the global travel, the famous historian Belvis Hillier who is credited for coining the phrase Art Deco recounts the swift expansion of the movement right from its beginning at a French exhibition in 1925. It is all about 32 hours, well immersed in Art Deco as we find Heathcote stepping out of the train at Venice and then moving on for a quick shower and beer.
