Whether it’s because of poor communication, differences in personality, deadline/time factors or other reasons, workplace conflict is unavoidable. Managing and resolving these conflicts is among the most challenging responsibilities that supervisors and employees must manage together. If issues remain unresolved, everyone in the work environment can be affected, leading to negative changes in employee relationships. Consequences such as polarization and lower productivity are common results. In order to find a solution, compromise is always a factor to some extent. This program depicts four scenarios in which conflict and resolution occurs. The four examples serve as guidance in understanding and resolving workplace conflict and include 1) employee off-time conflicts with supervisor’s need for additional help; 2) one employee orders another to clear all decisions through her first; 3) a angry customer confronts a receptionist about faulty equipment; 4) a client is unable to answer necessary security questions and becomes angry with customer service.
