Product Description:

There are few genuine nomads remanining, but the ones that do include the Wodaabe nomads hailing from the Sahara dessert. As an anthropologist, a man named Mette Bovin accompanies the Wodaabes in their quest to stick with the herd while migrating away from Africa. The Wodaabes often have to continue their nomad ways despite pressure to stop those ways and settle into what most people would call a life of normalcy. Droughts have taken their toll on herds, yet this does not stop them from maintaining the way of life they call their own. Taboos and ritual are a large part of the way in which these people do maintain their lives. These nomads appreciate the beauty of men and as a result, the men regularly use makeup. This documentary is included in the disappearing world series of DVDs.
