The Mehinacu people live in central Brazil and the pequi tree is the center of their lives and hearts and minds. This documentary offers a rare and amazing picture of their rituals and origin myths. We also get to see how these beliefs and ceremonies affect relationships between the Mehinacu men and women. This part of the Disappearing World series was filmed in 1974 and the Mehinacu felt then that their way of life was about to be wiped out. A road is being built right through the forest where the pequi trees grow. Will these people's voices on this beautiful film be the last we ever hear from them?
