Multimedia Systems: An Introduction (Enhanced DVD)

Presenting information in a multimedia environment enriches the users experience and retention of the material presented or the environment they explore. But how is this type of content created? This program explores that topic with two software developers who are experts in interactive software development. They discuss the ways that multimedia content, including text, video and audio pieces, is developed and maintained. Ben Britten, of Tin Man Games, talks about Apple’s Xcode suite. These tools are used to create iPhone applications. He also provides an overview of software that can be used for the many aspects of multimedia content creation such as planning, capturing, editing and displaying multimedia content. The presenters also discuss codec programs that are used to process files and store them. The video also covers the topics of content sharing and viral activity in a multimedia environment. Lastly, the video addresses the social, and sometimes, ethical consequences involved with multimedia technology. An online viewable/printable worksheet is available to broaden the viewers experience.
