There should be a slight bow in the plate. Have the bow facing up.
Can be used to print embossed cards, as big as 9 12 in. x 18 inch... Any kind of dye can be used: Magnesium Steel, Aluminum...
There are additional options (available at links on right) for additional blankets:
Catcher 1/16 in. goes directly on top of the damp paper to catch the sizing from the paper (this should be washed frequently so it doesn't become stiff from the sizing.)
Cushion Blanket 1/4 in. goes on top of the catcher. (Gray - is used primarily for block printing and give you less pressure. White - is primarily used for etching and will give you more pressure) Gray comes with the package. White is an option Item #695107
Pusher Blanket 1/8 in. goes on top of the cushion. (Pusher is used to protect the cushion blanket.) Item 695108
The use of the three blankets is to equalize the pressure and lessen the stain on the upper roll shaft of the press.
To clarify:
- Print size: the largest print you can make is 9 ½ w x 18. This allows for a little extra for the blankets on all sides
- 15/16 clearance: with out blanket. This is the maximum distance between rollers.
This is the Richeson Updated Model: Cast Aluminum. Sides are rounded. Grooved roller. Spring loaded calibrators. User Friendly! Guides for matching previous calibrations - these are the only printing presses with this terrific feature! w / Safety device that plate cannot fall out.

This is a very well made press. It is essentially a scaled-down version of the other Richelson presses with similar features. It makes a great choice for someone wanting an affordable press for use at home, as it doesn't require a stand, and it doesn't take up nearly as much room. It obviously cannot make larger sizes prints, but if you are making prints no larger than 9x15, it's does as well as larger presses at a fraction of the cost.

I am pleased with the product that I received. It's great for small quick prints. I purchased this for self use and to demonstrate printmaking in my classroom. This printer is identical to the Blick baby press and works the same. Very easy to use and came in great condition.

This is exactly what I was looking for and it arrived so fast! I am a teaching artist for the state arts council and wanted something that I could take to residencies with me. I can lift it by myself and had no trouble with assembly. What a beautiful little etching press!

Okay I teach a class in Printmaking and struggled through with a no name press for 5 months and then returned it and got a replacement which was still bad... Then I found this press it is really great for my class we've been using it for about year and it is so wonderful. Works like a charm for etching, litho plates, collographs, mono prints and everything we do. I haven't seen one thing it couldn't do. It is a little giant and I am so grateful for finding tho=is Baby Richeson!

I finally received the baby press after being back-ordered. It was solidly crated for shipping & arrived in perfect condition. There was next to no assembly required; I'm anxious to test it out, but it looks so well built, I'm sure it'll work well.

Price was fair. Right size for my needs. Set up was easy. Worked very well on first try!!! A very nice press. I love it. Perfect for a non-professional artist who likes professional results.

Well packaged. Arrived fast. Exactly what was advertised. Great shopping experience.
The Phenolic Plates have for the most part replaced the old steel plates.
We have found them to be easier to handle than the older steel plates.
The dimensions are slightly different for the Phenolic Plate.
